I did not know this. If true, it is a pretty powerful seismic shift that must be making a lot of people aligned with Hindi cinema very worried. indianexpress.com/article/entert… That the southern states were ahead on economic and development indicators is an old & known thing.

But that their economic and development strengths is now allowing their languages, culture and arts (southern cinema, for instance) to also take the lead is a key shift.

India might have horribly mismanaged its Covid vaccination campaign. But Adar Poonawalla, the CEO and owner of Serum Institute of India, is well-diversified to still emerge even more powerful globally. @Singh10Seema & @anandg_kalyang report in @TheKenWeb the-ken.com/story/adar-poo… Serum Institute is profitable, owned comfortably by the Poonawalla family and sitting at only the beginning of a global vaccine supercycle. From ordering vaccines to preparing for a 2nd wave to modeling societal behaviour to being transparent with scientific data, there isn't *one* thing our union government has done a good job of. Not one. But that's not even the worst part. Because of its deep-rooted unwillingness to ever accept its mistakes, it is incapable of truly and honestly undo those and change course. Everything new decision it makes must make all its past decisions look correct and never refute them.

My heart goes out to billionaire Adar Poonawalla. I mean, elected chief ministers of states and business leaders just calling him up to get their hands on life saving vaccines for their citizens and employees. Can’t they be patient and wait their turn? thetimes.co.uk/article/adar-p… To think poor Poonawalla barely made it to Britain before giving this interview. I cannot imagine the nerve wracking stress he must have gone through.

Privileged, salaried people sitting in air-conditioned homes next to stuffed refrigerators and larders are (a) declaring India's 21 day lockdown a "success already", and (b) criticizing poor people desperately walking about trying to find groceries to survive. I don't think I've ever hated Bangalore's homogeneous gated communities and its RWAs (residents welfare associations) as much as now. Mediocre, selfish people dismissive of life just outside their community gates.

Was the target of a fairly sophisticated multi-vector spearphishing attack yesterday. Started with multiple calls from a US number, with pre-recorded messages from an American accented woman's voice saying my Google account login had failed. As soon as I disconnected the call, I received cleanly formatted SMSes from a shortcode number, saying I needed to reauthenticate. There was a link, to a goo.gl shortcode.

If you want to understand the true depth of the Indian right wing's vile hatred for Kerala, go to their "leading" publications and scan for any news about Kerala's heartbreaking flood situation. Look at the cool and lackadaisical response of the central government in coming to Kerala's aid. Literally an entire state has been flooded and needs to be rebuilt from scratch, and they're slowly waking up.
