@ldragoon I also like to point out that German culture was deeply, deeply religious, deeply affiliated and enmeshed in church life as a whole. This has been shown in historical study after historical study. People and families had *lifetime* relationships with churches that involved @ldragoon baptisms, Sunday school, Confirmation, first communion, continued attendance, marriage, on and on and on. The supposed widespread profligacy of the Weimar years affected a very tiny portion of the population in Berlin. The vast majority of the country was living quietly and going

@StephanFrost Just know that it isn’t laziness. I swear to god it isn’t laziness. Never ever ever use that word.
Do things *with* them, making lists of the order that you go in, as many times as it takes, until they start to unpack the underlying structure that *they* need. For example: @StephanFrost ā€œClean Your Roomā€ will always create panic and depression and helplessness, and it doesn’t matter if it makes sense to you or not: you just need to accept it. So for a number of YEARS this will be something that you do together, in little bursts, in a cheerful, non-lecturing way.

Here’s why you need to vote:
You aren’t voting for a person. You aren’t voting to give a gold star to any particular administration.
You are voting to voice your support for a PLATFORM.
What has the Democratic Party pledged to do?
I’m now 50 years old. For the entirety of my life, the Democratic Party has made the ERA a part of their platform. People have said ā€œTake it off,ā€ but someone like Ted Kennedy always said, ā€œLike hell we will.ā€
The Democratic Party has supported abortion rights. It’s the ONLY party that gives a shit about Civil Rights.

@SmashAdams1989 @brat2381 @FrenchRainez Precisely. I think parties earn votes by having:
1) Stable platforms that are ideologically sound--not focused entirely on economics--and show concern for BIPOC
2) Party discipline. Let me say it again: Party discipline.
3) Infrastructure, funding, an established ground game @SmashAdams1989 @brat2381 @FrenchRainez For all of the Justice Dems supposed finger-on-the-pulse-of-the-people...for all of their supposed nimbleness of messaging...for all of their claims that they absolutely DID have party discipline, and they weren't just college sophomores playing at politics, I watched FOR YEARS

@Delafina777 @JonHammond1701 @jorymicah @skamaniabob @DavidDzimianski The NT has never bothered me, but I want to be clear: It’s been a long time since I’ve read it, and I read it with a very uncritical eye, in a religious environment that rarely (if ever) mentioned Jews. Where most Bibles say ā€œthe Jews,ā€ our Church’s Bible’s translation usually @Delafina777 @JonHammond1701 @jorymicah @skamaniabob @DavidDzimianski substituted ā€œthe crowd,ā€ or ā€œthe people.ā€ As a small child I asked my mother if Jews had to go to hell and I’ll never forget her gripping the steering wheel and saying, ā€œWE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT.ā€ I didn’t hear about the deicide charge until my Jewish friends told me in HS, and I
