As one of the only Aboriginal reporters in WA, I feel like I have a duty to call out WA media.

First and foremost, I know I am young and new to this industry but I also have witnessed tragic events that this state’s media refuses to cover. I am extremely upset and saddened to see a number of the state’s news station did not cover today’s Indigenous suicide prevention announcement.

Imagine this: you’re living your life surrounded by your family and elders. You’re living freely on your land, you’re speaking your mothers tongue. Your culture is alive and thriving, and has been for thousands of yours. And then one day, you see some white sails Over the next few decades your life and the life of your family dramatically changes. Your waterholes are poisoned, you’re captured and made to work for these strangers who have guns and are threatening you. Your children are dying after being infected by some unknown sickness
