This afternoon's #RCPsychIC keynote is by Professor Huda Zoghbi, Professor of Pediatrics, Molecular and Human Genetics, Neurology, and Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine (@bcmhouston). Professor Zoghbi is also an Investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (@HHMINEWS), and the founding Director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital. #RCPsychIC

We've reached the afternoon of Day 4 of #RCPsychIC - and right now we're anticipating our next keynote, which is titled Rapid-Acting Antidepressants: New treatments, new hope, and new insights into the brain. Our speaker is one of the most influential psychiatrists in biological psychiatry - Dr John Krystal from @Yale - who says the STAR*D study showed too few saw remission from depression from antidepressants and in other analyses ADs proved less effective than we thought #RCPsychIC

What can we learn from psychiatry in conflict and disaster zones? Three talks from members of the College's Volunteering and International Psychiatry Special Interest Group @psychvolunteer, chaired by Dr Sophie Thomson at #RCPsychIC @psychvolunteer Starting with @LynneJonespsych, who explains that humanitarian psychiatry in the 90s was much different - 'everyone has PTSD, so let's give them counselling, and that's that'. Even in Iraq 2003, there was plenty of money - but it all went on PTSD. #RCPsychIC
