I'm so profoundly and deeply disheartened by MIT's decision to become a literal gated community.

Over the last few days, I've had calls & conversations with 100s of affected MIT alum, students, & community members.

Here's the situation in their words MITs open campus is more than a security feature. It deeply integrates the departments together and allows so many wonderful things to happen at MIT. Here's it put into words by MITs currently President Reif.

As many of you know, MA has launched a digital vaccine card! This is an exciting step for both getting the pandemic under control. myvaxrecords.mass.gov

What you may not know is this is a decades in the making technical achievement. 1/ When you log into the site, you can just see your vaccine record... but how do they get this information when there are so many providers - private & public?

WIth wildfire haze over Cambridge in the recent days, we need to talk about climate policy. There’s a lot we can do at the municipal level, and we need to be bold and thoughtful. The affordable housing vs market rate housing argument misses the point. It's not a choice because they serve different functions and we can't solve the housing crisis with either alone. I'm a huge supporter of deed restricted, affordable housing. I was a big proponent of the Affordable Housing Overlay and like to believe I played a key part in helping it pass & am proud of the 350 new affordable units it's already put in the pipeline.
