🧵Deripaska, one of Putin’s most trust Oligarchs, founded Rusal (Russian Aluminium) in post-Soviet Russia in the 90s.

His wealth quickly grew as he controlled the aluminium scene with an iron fist and protection of the Putin regime.

In 2007, Rusal bought Aughinish Alumina in Ireland, then a small alumina refinery.

For the first ten years, other than having Russian ownership, you wouldn’t know about a more sinister plan brewing.

Indeed, in 2018, only 16% of Aughinish’s exports went to Russia. Image

🚨The EU Parliament passes the motion to ban the export of Alumina from the EU to Russia!

We now have the will of the European people behind the #Alumina22 campaign.

Ireland and the EU must now quickly take account of the democratic will and end this trade now.

Thank you all 460 votes for.
136 against.
59 abstentions.

This is a clear democratic instruction from the European people to ban Alumina exports to Russia now.
