I’m not Jewish, so it’s not up to me to say what Jews are/aren’t, or how they should identify themselves. But since a Jewish friend asked me to, I’ll give my input. Anyone who’s into genetics, such as myself, is aware that Jews are BY FAR the most studied population in the world.
Part of the reason the genetics community fetishizes Jewish people’s origins so much is due to the constant dehumanization of Jews by anti-Semites, who claim Jews (and more specifically, Ashkenazi Jews) are not indigenous to the Middle East.
