Douce Dame Jolie by Guillaumme Machaut. The 14th century he lived in is closer to our time than his time was to the Trossingen lyres 5th century.

This beauty is now on it's way to us from Ukraine. It's a replica of the 6th c Trossingen lyre found in a warriors grave in Germany. Differences from the original include two added strings, spruce soundboard and a built in microphone.
It's unclear how much we will use it since it is way earlier than the music we play. Another lyre built in the 16th century has been found in a barn in Norway so the lyre as such did survive past the Middle Ages in Scandinavia
