On Aug. 26, 2023, a white supremacist murdered three Black people at a Dollar General in Jacksonville, Florida.

NEW: The U.S. has banned sugar imports from a top Dominican producer over forced labor allegations.

The action comes after a Reveal/@MotherJones investigation sparked criticism of the Dominican Republic’s sugar industry from lawmakers. revealnews.org/article/us-ban… The block of raw sugar shipments is against Central Romana Corp., whose plantations shipped 295M+ pounds of raw sugar from the Dominican Republic to the U.S. last year.
