This is insane. This NYPD officer could easily have killed him. I’m a motorcycle rider who rides in the city every week and I’m pretty nimble and even I’m not sure I have the skills to stay alive if a cop tries to mash me into a jersey barrier at speed. What are we doing?

I probably would have died at 0:24 when the guy had to jerk to the right to avoid being hit. I don’t think I could have reacted fast enough there.

A traffic violation is not a capital offense. Evading an officer trying to stop you is not a capital offense.

We think of cycling in places like Amsterdam and Copenhagen as just part of the background, but in fact 100% of the deliberate bike infrastructure in these places happened within my lifetime, more than half of it within my adult lifetime.
