In a nutshell, a payment transaction represents a transfer of value from one account to another.

Payment volume statistics are simply a calculation of the value transferred across the ledger of ALL assets and is calculated by using [...] the last sale price * amount = XRP value then converted to USD value = VALUE per token.

Given recent events with the @SEC_News v @Ripple, and the documents filed, I would like to make it known that I run my own XRP validator, without permission from anyone and have never had any influence from Ripple, ever.

It is also important to note that I was invited to have my validator added to Ripples UNL which I accepted. There were no requirements, nothing signed, nothing promised, nothing given. Purely voluntary and no guarantees I'll remain on it.
