a lot of people think that capitalism = commerce or markets (exchanging goods & services), but both of those things existed before capitalism and are in no way inherent to it — capitalism is simply when the forces of economic production are owned privately when people conflate capitalism with trade or commerce they're missing the most important aspect of capitalism — its deeply undemocratic nature. despite the fact that wealth is created collectively, it's captured individually and deployed for the benefit of the few (capitalists)

Biden is proposing a 3 month moratorium on the 18.4 cent per gallon gas tax as a way to reduce gas prices and it's the perfect example of how terminally committed our policymakers are to the bankrupt logic of neoliberalism.
