Been thinking for the past few days about how the journalistic obeisance to “objectivity” ultimately comes out of an extraordinarily white (hence privileged) place
Objectivity, or being objective, is held up as an ideal again and again for journalists … and it’s not coming from a bad place, but what we mean by it is misplaced. The core tenets of the journalistic method are attempting to be accurate and fair, but we call that “objective”

So I’ve been listening off and on to reaction to the NZ shootings today, and boy do most of the media do a piss-poor job of understanding the core issue. I think there are two reasons for this. (1/?)
