Several of you have called or e-mailed to ask how things are here in DC and if I am safe.
Needless to say, yesterday's attack was very frightening. I went to the Red Cross in downtown
D.C. yesterday around lunchtime ~ took the Metro in, which is the subway
@BeschlossDC system (a perfect
target), so that was a little scary. When I first arrived downtown, there were many cars on the
streets, all people leaving work and getting out of the area. Two hours later, it was a ghost town.
The streets leading to the White House were all blocked off by
