Rathnasabapathy:
This is Natarajar at my Gruham. Nearly 80 yrs old
Y'day I witnessed 2nd kaala Pooja Abishekam of Spatika Lingam (which is offered 6 kaala poojas) & only kaala Pooja of Rathnasabapathy in Chithsabhai of Chidambaram.
I seek to share the background I have learnt
1/n The pooja starts around 10 am with the prakara ula of Chandramouleeswarar & Indushekari. After He returns, the idols of the Spatika Lingam and Rathnasabapathy are brought to the South-East corner of Chithsabhai facing East in gold plated boxes.

In Thiruvisainallur there was a Shiva Bakthar called Sridhar Ventataraman.

His mother's thithi fell on Karthigai Amavasai. When he had cooked food and was waiting for the 3 priests to do the rituals a beggar came and asked for good.

1/n As the Bhakthar considered all beings ar Shiva-swaroopam he fed the beggar.

As a consequence all the priests who were to come for the ritual refused. Sridhar aiyyavaal asked for a parikaram and they said he had to go and take bath in Ganga.
