My strongest feeling on this tour was that the Dalry Community Park and the Sauchiebank Community Garden will be fantastic for the area and its local residents.

This might surprise people on completion, because the project is often seen as (just) an active travel route🧵 Image And purely from an active travel perspective, here is one major deficiency.

This was not the preferred access route from Dundee Street. I was assured that the narrow bridge is a temporary solution until land can be purchased from the office car park.

*Roseburn to (almost) Canal*

I'm getting a site tour on Friday morning. Communication with ward councillors hasn't always been great during this project, so i'll be going armed with a lot of questions....

3 sets of questions from the West Approach end below ❓️🔻 Image 1. Why is this bridge so narrow?

On what is likely to be the busiest part of the route, a 1.5m bridge just invites pedestrian/cyclist conflict.

What happened to plans to purchase land from the neighbouring office block?

Can these be revived in the future? Image

🧵Proposals for further delays to the Edinburgh City Centre Transformation will come to the Transport & Environment Committee on August 15th.

It seems odd to announce it in a small publication behind a pay wall.
Image I wrote about this in May, when the original delay was announced.

At that time, 'funding uncertainty' was blamed, even though the project had been agreed on the basis that it could be done cheaply through traffic orders.

Dalry 'Living Well Locally'...will go out for consultation soon:

🚶‍♀️wider pavements and tighter junctions

🌳 greener streets and more crossing points

🚍 traffic filter at Haymarket to stop through traffic between 7am & 7pm (buses and taxis only)

🚴‍♀️ segregated cycle lanes

1/5 Image The project goes from Haymarket to McLeod Street and includes much-needed safety improvements around Dalry Primary School and Tynecastle High, and at the 5-way junction at Ardmillan
