This will have passed many folk in England by
On 21 August @DHSCgovuk announced £588m funding to support older people & those with functional needs to leave hospital
Its a precise amount and there’s zero explanation of how it will work 👇 gov.uk/government/new…
Really curious about how the £588m figure was derived & how it will work
Given it refers to packages of care for up to 6 weeks post discharge to support recovery, it seems a safe assumption that this is pegged against reablement
Question is, will it buy enough to meet demand?

Granted this is not the most exciting of reading, but essential for anyone who may:
👉 find themselves, or a member of their family in a NHS (England) hospital from 1st September
Emphasis is heavily on rapid discharge & community assessment: moves most assessment post acute care into communities-piling pressure onto local authorities & CCGs
Free support available on discharge up to 6 weeks 👇
