Spent some time over the weekend admiring this photo of my Uncle Bob Teskey (far right) on Esso Rig #5 in May, 1980. Uncle Bob managed all of Esso’s drilling operations across Canada until his sudden passing in 1984. He drilled in Norman Wells, the Beaufort Sea, Arctic Islands... He was responsible for drilling ops in Eastern Canadian offshore waters, including two exploratory wells in more than 1000m of water back in 1979. Uncle Bob also directed the first dynamically positioned, semi-submersible drilling platform ever used in Canada. (2/4)
