Last year I ran a small digital PR campaign for "Dry January" using Google Trends data.

It got featured in The Daily Mail, Entreprenuer•com, Canada•com, and around 20+ more high authority publications.

Here's my exact pitch (in full), data, and process... 🧵

The angle was simple - see if searches for Dry Jan were higher than the previous year.

If so, make the data look nice and pitch it to the media with the angle "interest in dry jan is increasing by X%"

Searches for dry jan were massively up on previous years. Image

Here's a quick way to get an interactive, link-worthy calculator on your website in less than 10 minutes.

No plugins or coding experience needed.

If I get a few comments with the word "calculator", I'll post the full source code and ready to use template in the thread.

🧵 This salary calculator was inspired by a similar tool I found in the wild from @GoFishDigital, who created a "Tech CEO Salary Calculator" for their client Simple Texting. 👏🏼

The idea is simple. Simply show a famous person's ridiculously large salary compared to the users. Image

In this thread, I've tweaked Alek's steps to transform this 'shotgun skyscraper' tactic into a highly effective digital PR campaign.

(that could land you hundreds of links).

Thread 🧵 Let's assume we are in the dog niche as in Alek's example.

Instead of simply collating 'interesting statistics', let's think of something newsworthy and then work our way backwards to get the data.

Let's go with what he's already mentioned:

This is the story of how I created mccheapest . com:

- 100K views in first 48 hours
- DR33 days after launch
- Hundreds of high authority mentions

And the best thing:

- 0 outreach. Not one single email / pitch / anything.

This is exactly how I did it 👇

Cont. Let's take a look at some of the coverage/links:

- Yahoo (DR92)
- MSN (DR92)
- iHeart (DR91)
- MIT Technology Review (DR90)
- Times Union (DR83)
- The Sun (DR80)

And hundreds more...
