The results of two separate studies on #gasstoves were published in recent weeks.
One found no link between gas cooking and childhood asthma, while the other claimed there was a link.
Wanna guess which one got more media attention?
🧵
The first study, funded by the World Health Organization, examined dozens of prior studies. What did the researchers find?
“For asthma, no significant increase in risk for children and adults was found for use of gas compared with electricity.” thelancet.com/journals/lanre…

Data centers, electrification, clean tech manufacturing.
The coming surge in electric power demand is real, and ensuring we have adequate supply is going to require a reassessment of where the energy system is currently headed.
🧵
Two years ago, U.S. grid planners expected nationwide electricity demand to increase by 2.6% per year.
They have already nearly doubled that estimate to 4.7% growth per year for the next five years. utilitydive.com/news/electrici…

With the Biden administration’s decision today to freeze liquefied natural gas (LNG) export approvals based on climate concerns, let’s take a deeper look at the facts and the “evidence” activists used to successfully lobby for this.
In 2023, the campaign to ban #gasstoves was brought out of obscurity and into the mainstream.
Despite a full court press from activists, polling shows that voters saw through the tactics and are arguably more opposed to a ban today than they were just 12 months ago.

Are the feds trying to ban gas stoves?
For months we’ve seen headlines and “fact checks” claiming the White House is pursuing no such thing. It’s all just some phony right-wing “culture war,” they say.
The facts tell a different story.

With all the talk about #gasstoves and alleged health threats, it's worth providing some background on where the research currently is on this issue, and how the feds suddenly decided these appliances are a health risk.

First of all, the largest analysis of any link between gas stoves & childhood asthma (500,000+ children sampled worldwide) found “no evidence of an association between the use of gas as a cooking fuel and either asthma symptoms or asthma diagnosis.” pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24429203/

Solar tariffs are once again in the news.
Here’s a short 🧵 on how prior rounds of U.S. tariffs have not spurred the manufacturing renaissance that advocates promised.
In 2012, the Obama admin imposed tariffs on Chinese solar panels and cells. The rationale: China was subsidizing and “dumping” them in the U.S. at under-market prices. Supporters claimed the tariffs would promote domestic manufacturing. money.cnn.com/2012/05/17/mar…
