the meta for when you're younger is not the same as when you're older

i talk a lot of health and fitness stuff, plus prudent financial ideas

while you shouldn't neglect all that when youre young, its less important - take more risks, pursue your dreams. 18-25 is when you should be maxed out on the risk curve

you're physically peak(have more energy, drive, need less rest, recovery, ), have least to lose

pursue that girl, travel your ass off, go for that moonshot idea even if it means ignoring all my health/wellbeing life advice.

a really useful framework ive found for participants in an asset

investors vs traders

investors buy low, for fundamental reasons

traders/speculators trade based on technical factors(S&D, momentum)

(speculators here just less informed traders) in something like a meme coin, the trading flows dominate and you can profitably trade it technically

in something with very good fundamentals, the investment flows can equal or even overpower trading flows , investors win.

friend was having digestion issues

i recommended eating more veggies and some yogurt

2wks later - stomach is great

it's that easy, folks *obviously this is for normal digestion issues.

if you have some weirdass gastrointestinal problem that veggies and yogurt have no effect on, you need to see a doctor

financial and business media is so clueless about crypto

lots of pr opportunities for projects to take advantage of that if they know what they're doing. but most dont

news-medical.net/news/20201119/… researching food health is the most depressing (but also one of the most important) things you can do.

if you view life as having positive and zero sum games

there's lots of good public education and discussion about the positive sum games

but very little, or otherwise outright wrong info/discussion about the zero sum games just play the positive games right?

you can't. The most important games in life are zero sum.

if youre trying to lose weight, or maintain a healthy weight, i highly highly recommend intermittent fasting

-easy to do and fit into most lifestyles
-hard not to lose weight on it
-has other benefits like better blood sugar modulation etc. im on it right now, outside my eating window and literally have no appetite .

tried some beer which tasted great 2 hours ago - the same tastes bad now outside of my eating window

im not a bond trader so take with a grain of salt

but i do feel like perpetual yield markets may be transformative similar to perp swaps bonds are difficult to trade, perp yields make it easy

market will def be smaller than perp swaps obviously but for the market it addresses(yield) it shoudl be transformative.

uni v3 has been great for traders, but at the expense of destroying one of the most important aspects of defi:

Lazy LPing with v2 you just deposit into a pool (ETH/USD, ETH/WBTC etc.) and you're done

minimal IL, no management. often LM rewards on top

I'm not a day trader, but I do some swing trades to manage my portfolio

To read the tape, Market Profile is one of the more useful tools I've used

While I was learning MP, @SpacemanBTC reached out to me and let me try his indicator.

Here's a quick intro and review: 1/ Market Profile is just another way to look at the market

It's similar to Volume Profile, but you see time spent at a level, rather than the volume traded at it.

Wouldn't volume be more accurate?

The problem is in crypto, volume is fragmented.

Time is universal.

"Fair launch" has had mixed results, but I wonder if it can work if adjusted correctly.

if the farm or staking measures select for long term holders with desirable attributes I feel like it could be as good as VC funding or even better.

shower thread: 2 - what to select for:

Long time horizons
Can do this through vesting mechanisms, no-transfer tokens(ribbon)

Skills your project needs
There could be a coder farm, a marketer farm, a BD farm, a Liquidity farm, a governance voter farm

each farm selects for that skillset.

Crazy-ass day

First time I've written about two incidents in one letter

Tried to do both incidents justice as simple headlines simply don't explain what happened very well.

Two points worth highlighting today

-Alchemix users did not lose any money (reverse actually)

-Iron did not literally rug its users either. Users technically rugged themselves.

it would be interesting if coin charts displayed yield

this could help users pick better assets the caveat is it should be protocol level yield, not 3rd party farms.

could do it simply - just state a % given by the projectc

or pull the data from a smart contract that distributes the rewards

i like tokens that you can stake for a meaningful, organic reward it narrows the list down a lot

it shows the project is generating revenue

it shows the token has a baseline economic value

Few understand was a great motto for DeFi summer

But actually has led to inaccurate DeFi valuations

Quick thread: 1/ During the DeFi Summer of 2020

DeFi valuations blew up. 5-10x was normal across the industry

meanwhile farming yields were insane
5 digit yields were common, no joke.

"Few understand" was born during this time
May 24, 2021 4 tweets 1 min read
Given:

-long term trends
-relatively high yield (30%+)
-low liquidity of many true defi tokens

It may make sense for DeFi natives to
1. Pick good long term projects with growth potential
2. Stake or LP the tokens

Rather than actively trading them. Other reasons:
-DeFi tokens don't trade "cleanly" like BTC, ETH or old school alts

-It's pretty much impossible to juggle both a proper trading process (serious screen time) and DeFi research (even more screen time)

Advice given to a friend starting in crypto:

I wouldn't start with alts

Start with Bitcoin

Understand how it works. It's value

And then move on to other stuff once you understand it

1/4: 2/4

That's both educational and investment advice because right now bitcoins share of the market seems to be in an uptrend

An Interesting DeFi Phenomenon

Many projects that started as "blue chips" are merely ok investments

While many projects that started as degen projects, are ironically better investments.

Thread: A year ago, the best projects in DeFi were by far Uniswap and Compound.

Great Teams, Great Development Practices, Great PMF.

Today, they are still great, dominant projects.

But are they good investments?

Putting myself out on a limb again because I think it's important:

ETH has special properties for DeFi

These properties don't show up on charts, OTC desk flows, VPVR, or many of the things CeFi traders look at.

But its obvious for anyone who actually uses DeFi: 1. As a native asset of Ethereum, ETH is the only truly trustless asset on the Network.

2. Because of 1, ETH is the most popular base pair on Uniswap and most DEXes.

3. because of 2, ETH is the most popular LP position.
