No heterosexual man has ever said "Yeah I'm into her, but her career isn't going well -- I'm not sure it'll work out between us."

Ever.

In all of written history, never has a heterosexual man wished a woman had a more developed 'career'. You're imposing this on yourself. Sure, men are attracted to some degree competence (way less than women).

I'd like a wife who can handle having 5 kids, vacation logistics, being a socialite to some degree, helping me with ends.

If you interpret this as "I should grind for L5 at Google" you've lost the plot.
