Amazed at friends out to create a kangaroo court who mock those fighting for basic freedoms as cult followers. These are freedoms i have stood for through 32 years of legal practice. I am in PTI today because that's where the fight is being fought.@sherryrehman @FarhatullahB
The Constitutional Court apologists have not one argument to justify it over a constitutional bench within the SC. Its only purpose is to allow a handpicked CJ to pick other meek judges to serve as pall bearers of constitutional values.

We face some of the darkest days in our history. Constitutional amendments are meant to reflect the deepest convictions of a nation, not tricks to subdue democracy through a subjugated judiciary. We face a fraud on the Constitution. Pity some judges will gladly accept this fraud.
We have come to this moment through several earlier assaults on the Constitution. There was no basis for not holding elections within 90 days of dissolution of the KPK & Punjab assemblies. Far too many supported this grave violation. A constitutional compulsion was ridiculed.

The reserved seats case underway is a case that has greater far-reaching implications for the Constitution of Pakistan and democracy than almost any case since the Maulvi Tamizuddin case of 1956. People at large must understand the issues. I am asked by many to explain.
The government and the election commission are asking the supreme court to interpret the following line in article 51(6) (d) and (e) that determine the general seats that form the basis for grant of reserved seats:

When this dark period, like others before, is over we will remember who resisted & who colluded or looked away when elections were not held in 90 days of dissolution; civilians court martialed; homes raided, people thrashed/abducted; a general election stolen; media stifled.
Assaults on constitutional values are assaults on human dignity. Human beings are human before they belong to one party or another. So many who claim to be progressives have nothing to say except: what about the past? This is nothing but evasion of present moral responsibility.

I want to thank in humility the people of NA 128 who reached out in defiance and voted for Imran Khan and PTI on 8 Feb, 2024. I recieved with gratitude 159,024 votes. This was among the highest votes in the country & three times the votes polled by my nearest opponent. Thank you!
At 10.30pm on 8 Feb 2024 i and my election agents were forcibly evicted by the police at the behest of the Returning Officer from the premises where the consolidation of results received from 433 polling stations was being carried out. This was in patent violation of the law.

Another raid at a friend's house. Wife and children left traumatised. All year since, Januaury at least, I have asked friends I have respected as rights defenders a decent people: where do you stand? All year I have heard agreement in principle but seen silent connivance.
When the issue was compliance with the Constitution by holding elections within 90 days of provincial assembly dissolution one heard nonsense about the power of parliament to withhold funds from people who claimed to be constitutionalists committed to democracy.

On 3.8.2023 the IHC CJ issued notice for 'next week' in the revision application filed by Mr Imran Khan against refusal by the trial judge to allow him to present witnesses in his defence. At the same time the CJ IHC directed the trial court to hear final arguments on 4.8. 2023!
While the IHC is yet to decide the question of defence evidence the trial court has given its verdict convicting IK. This is an absurd situation. It needs to be noted that there is no finding in the judgment that any gift was bought at an undervalued price.

Let us be clear: we are going through a period of constitutional defiance & fraud like no other in our history. Elections within 90 days of dissolution is the basic democratic right of the people that is being denied. This denial is not justified by any other wrong in the past.
Intellectual fraud is committed when denial of the 90 day constitutional mandate is linked to how Ar 63A was interpreted. That strained interpretation brought down the Punjab govt a few weeks earlier than otherwise. Bye election results on 17 July would have terminated it anyway.

This is a time for clarity of commitment to the Constitution. Our state’s future depends on this. Once a dissolution has taken place an election must be held within 90 days. Not one judge of the SC has disagreed with this.
Crores of citizens of Punjab & KP are without representation. That is the issue. Nothing else matters as much. Politics is of passing relevance. Defying the Const has permanent consequences.
