If you speak Kannada, Telugu, or Sanskrit, you’ve likely noticed that Hindi sounds "clipped."

Rama becomes Ram. Shiva becomes Shiv.

Even in English, "Chocolate" feels like it’s missing a syllable. Ever wondered why?

I went down this rabbit hole yesterday and was fascinated with what I learnt.

Welcome to the world of 'Schwa Deletion' in linguistics. 🧵👇 1. What is a ‘Schwa’?

The Schwa (ə) is a "lazy" vowel, the neutral "uh" sound.

The word comes from the Hebrew sheva, meaning "emptiness" or "nothingness."

It is the sound your mouth makes when it’s doing absolutely nothing.

Because the Schwa is "empty," it’s easily crushed.

Someone recently asked me, why does Karnataka have its own flag, and that what does it stand for? Even I was not so sure so I happened to read a bit about it.

On Karnataka Rajyotsava day, this is a small attempt to make more people know about the history of this flag.

Thread🧵 Image Apparently, Karnataka is the only state in India currently which has its own flag. The only other state which had a separate flag was J&K before the abrogation of article 370.

Sikkim had its own flag before becoming an integral part of India in 1975.

I checked out that CRICTOS NFT marketplace advertised during the WC. Spent 30 mins on it where the site kept showing me some 'cards' available to buy, each with some 'points'.

A card is of a particular player's moment in a game, like a wicket, four, six, catch etc. I look for what kind of cards are available. Straightaway I searched for 'that' Virat six against Haris Rauf. No luck.

Found the last over six off the no-ball though. Price? $1000.

I'm thinking, this is a cool thing to buy. I will own the video of that moment. But wait.
