1/ The controversy over @ishapiro's tweet regarding Biden's pledge that his SCOTUS nominee would be a black woman highlights the absurd performative ritual that takes place within a university administration anytime someone dissents from the required orthodoxy. 2/ Ilya pointed out that whomever Biden appoints will forever have an asterisk by her name since Biden has made clear she is being chosen for her race and gender, rather than for being the most qualified person. To be clear: this is true even if she IS the most qualified person.

1/ There is a neo-McCarthyist purge happening in our K-12 schools. The teachers being purged are the ones who encourage their students to think critically and independently. 2/ Other teachers feel like they have to choose between indoctrinating the students in their charge or losing their jobs and their ability to support their families.
