Researching/writing Disobedient Women, I ran across so many people who were called ‘slanderers,’ ‘defamers,’ or ‘gossips’ for pointing out error and abuse in the church. It’s a tired, old tactic, and it does silence some. And that’s WHY these terms are thrown around.
Telling the truth takes courage. Documenting it, creating an archive of documents and vetted sources is not small feat. Defying those in power shocks them, for sometimes they overestimate the limits of their own authority.

Continuing on with folks featured in #DisobedientWomen, today it's Dee Parsons (@wartwatch) from Wartburg Watch. You may already know her for her research, breaking many stories before traditional media, or her necessary humor.
@wartwatch Dee was the sort to debate evolution in Sunday School at her Baptist church. (An argument carefullly coded as “younger earth” versus “older earth” creationists.) She delighted in rigor and Star Trek–each, in their way, inspiration for her faith.
