Vanderbilt University issued changes to campus media access yesterday in the wake of a Kirkland Hall protest where a reporter was arrested (despite clearly IDing himself as a reporter). This change in policy is ridiculous. (1/x)
Reporters are now expected to check in with VU Comms before coming on campus so they can "understand what you are coming to cover." Vanderbilt is a 330-acre campus in the heart of Nashville with public streets throughout. This is not a press box.

When we're talking about problems on Lower Broadway and associated costs for policing (like this story: wkrn.com/news/broadway-…), let's consider the amount of alcohol and dollars that are flowing through these bars with one small test case: Fireball.
If you want to flip through some of the finest whiskey lists in the country, go to Husk or 404/Gertie's or the Oak Room for some really great bourbon. But if you want to get trashed, you're shooting Fireball. Here's the math for one bar.
