There are DHEC mobile vaccine clinics happening today across the state. The COVID-19 vaccine is free. Appointments are encouraged, but not required! If you would like to make an appointment, you can visit cvas.dhec.sc.gov. COVID-19 vaccines are also available at county health departments across the state and there are more upcoming mobile events planned that you can make an appointment for! cvas.dhec.sc.gov

Residents of South Carolina should be aware of possible health effects related to smoke from wildfires that originated from fires burning across parts of central and western Canada and the western United States. scdhec.gov/HomeAndEnviron… Smoke from these fires, which has drifted into the northern part of our state, can irritate the eyes and respiratory system, as well as aggravate or exacerbate chronic heart and lung diseases.

DHEC is providing additional information ahead of tomorrow, Jan. 13, when those 70 and older can begin to schedule appointments to receive COVID-19 vaccine. scdhec.gov/news-releases/… DHEC’s online map at scdhec.gov/vaxlocator goes live Wednesday, Jan. 13 showing locations currently accepting appointments for COVID-19 vaccine and contact information for scheduling appointments at those locations. The map itself is not a way to schedule an appointment.

Gov. Henry McMaster and DHEC announced that beginning Wednesday, Jan. 13, any South Carolina resident aged 70 or older, regardless of health status or preexisting conditions, can begin scheduling their appointment to receive COVID-19 vaccine.
