Teaching a course this term on presidential impeachments. I'm not a lawyer, certainly not a constitutional lawyer. I'm teaching myself the material as I go. It can be daunting, intimidating. But I will share what students and I are learning. This is first of perhaps many threads.
The first and most basic thing to know is that there *is* an impeachment process. In Philly 1787, the framers considered not having one, for fear that it might subject presidents to serve as the pleasure of the Congress, thereby severely limiting presidents' autonomy.
