I hate the Twitch channel UI. Just. So much. It is fucked. I loved you, MIxer, but your channel UI was like a circus. Looks like Twitch is following suit. Shit is everywhere and behind extra clicks for no reason. Why do y'all make it so hard to find stuff and, in my case, do my job as an influencer relations manager seeking out creators.

Y'all creators who don't boast big numbers, you do have to work extra hard to get PR/publishers to notice you, but it's by no means hopeless. Understand that business partnerships mean mutual benefit and work towards making yourself a worthy partner no matter your channel size. There are a lot of ways to stand out and none of them are guaranteed. You can start by establishing a unique brand. Here's what's not unique: not talking while playing games, waiting for people to show up in your chat. We have a smorgasbord of those to (not) choose from.

Influencers, stop handing out the "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take" advice for requesting review codes. It's BS. You may get a couple lucky hits, but overall, you're creating a name for yourself in the "don't send" pile. It's really hard to crawl your way out of that. Thousands of requests per game means you're automatically getting skipped almost every time if you're a known "decline" influencer from just applying to every goddamn thing - ESPECIALLY if you're dealing with agencies that handle multiple publishers.

Not every content creator needs a manager. If you're not getting paid deals and they're literally just answering your emails for you to relay information back and forth as a middle man, they're actually HURTING your chances of future work because that shit is annoying as fuck. You're literally just adding an extra barrier to talk to you. I don't know if some creators think it adds prestige to have someone they call a "manager" - I sure as fuck hope they're not paying for them - but just having an email jockey is a net negative benefit. Quit it.
