Statement by Governor Seyi Makinde Regarding the Suspension of Twitter’s Operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government
It has become imperative for me to release a statement regarding the suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government.
As leaders, we should go beyond emotional reactions to issues and think about how our actions will affect the people we lead and our international ratings socially and economically.

Join my quarterly media chat on @bcos_tv this morning at 9 AM. I will be giving an account of my stewardship in the past one year.
Good morning everybody. It's a pleasure to be here. I will start from works and infrastructure: looking at roads like Moniya-Iseyin Road, Apete-Awotan-Akufo Road, Idi-Ape Basorun Road, these are not roads that can be tolled. However, a road like Circular Road will be tolled.

Following the meeting held with representatives of Igangan, Ibarapaland which was attended by security stakeholders including the recently appointed Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko, our administration has come up with a security strategy for that zone:
Deployment of Additional Operatives of the Amotekun Corps
We have resolved to redeploy 200 members of the Oyo State Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun to kidnapping/banditry hotspots in the state, especially in the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun zones.

Following the recent events in Tapa, Ibarapa North Local Government Area, it becomes imperative that I once again reassure the good people of Oyo State that our administration is doing everything in its power to address security issues in our state.
One of the strategies we are using to check insecurity in the state is the recently introduced Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun). I am fully aware of the alleged highhandedness by some members of the corps. We are investigating these issues to address them promptly.

Earlier today, we visited some of the areas which got flooded as a result of the heavy rains last night: Oke Omi, Ikumapayi, Olodo and Sawmill Bridge Onipepeye, Old Ife road in Ibadan.
There is a drainage master plan for Ibadan under the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project which is currently being executed. Once all of these projects are completed, it will ensure that these occurrences are taken care of.

I was so sorry to hear the news of the passing away of the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi which sad event took place earlier today.
I cannot begin to imagine the pain the family must be going through at this time because of the loss of their patriarch. It is my prayer that God grants them all the strength to bear this great loss.

This evening, we recommissioned the expanded Security Control Room and City Watch facilities at the Oyo State Security Trust Fund Headquarters, Onireke, Jericho, Ibadan. I reiterated our administration's commitment to making Oyo State safe and secure for all within its borders.
For those familiar with my statements during my campaign trail, you'll recall that I was going to scrap this entire architecture because the it was like a white elephant project. But I was convinced to give it another shot and today we have been rewarded with a functional centre.
