2019-2024 is nearly the only interval over which male prime-age employment to population ratio is up. It has been declining for 60 years and it would be a major policy victory to pull those men back into the workforce. That is what Vance is talking about. Longshoremen in this country basically have government-granted hereditary fiefs for fake jobs that pay $200k+/year which they pass down to their kids by submitting fraudulent timesheets so the kids get union seniority The reason to automate ports is not because it is cheaper or more efficient per se but because the members of the ILA and ILWU are atrocious people

There's an episode of South Park where Kyle signs the iTunes EULA without reading, allowing Steve Jobs to conduct medical experiments on him. And all his friends are like "of course we all read the EULA before signing it!" and he's bewildered

This is how I feel about 1/6. By which I mean, like, obviously sacking the Capitol to overturn the results of an election that you lost is the single worst way to abuse the power of the presidency, right? But it feels like nobody else believes this, not even the dems, even though they won't shut up about it
