Last night, the Iowa House voted 60-37 to pass a bill that would allow Iowans to purchase and carry firearms without a permit. One Democrat joined Republicans in voting yes. The bill now goes to the Senate. #ialegis desmoinesregister.com/story/news/pol… "These proposals recognize that the right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and that Iowans should not be required to get a permission slip and pay a fee in order to purchase a firearm," said Rep. If @IAGovernor signs this bill:

- Iowa's early voting period would go from 29 days to 20
- Polls would close at 8 p.m. rather than 9
- No one other than a family member or caregiver could return a voter's ballot
- County auditors could face new charges
desmoinesregister.com/story/news/pol… "Why are we doing this in Iowa? We had no fraud. We had a record turnout. People were happy with the way they got to vote absentee — a million people. And you better believe some of those people were Republicans, because you won," Rep Sharon Steckman said. desmoinesregister.com/story/news/pol…
