The Sahaba Do Istigatha [Malik Al-Dar] 🧵 + authenticating of the story. Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, on the authority of al-A'mash, on the authority of Abu Salih, on the authority of Malik al-Dar, who said: He was the treasurer of Umar was eating.

He said: A drought struck the people during Umar's time. A man came to the Prophet's grave (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of God! Pray for rain for your nation, for they are perishing." The man was visited in a dream and told: "You are Umar, so convey my greetings to him and tell him that you will be given rain. Tell him: Be diligent! Be diligent!" So he went to Umar and told him, and Umar wept and said: "O Lord, I will not fail except in what I am incapable of."
