In case you missed them, here are some COP26 developments over the last ~24 hours. You heard that right... so much has happened in just one day, and it's only going to ramp up as we get closer to Oct. 31. Countries are making pledges, staking out positions etc First up: Saudi Arabia makes a 2060 net-zero pledge. That follows Russia and the UAE. Skepticism abounds but also UN rules don't count overseas emissions, so within the Paris Agreement all 3 can continue to export fossil fuels while decarbonizing at home.

Been in Wuhan for a week now with @ClaireYChe and @sarahchen. Watching the city emerge from lockdown offers us glimpses of scenes that will likely unfold elsewhere as other cities try to get their economies back on track. Here are some stories that shed light on what’s to come. Tens of thousands of people rushed to get out of Wuhan when the coronavirus lockdown was lifted on Wednesday. So many lives had been put on hold for more than two months.
