College streetcar & Dufferin bus both 15+ mins away. If you need to be on time anywhere in the west, you won’t. The mayor & his yahoos don’t take the bus or streetcar. Tory Toronto’s decline is profound

Farewell tour for Skinny Puppy just announced. Another band I somehow missed seeing back in the day. That will be corrected this April. consequence.net/2023/02/skinny… No Detroit show. Odd.

OK Is it going to pull the subway and streetcars?

Calling out the mayor - but importantly, calling out crappy TTC comms. Govt by comms has its limits. If there was a respectful tradition on the TTC, giving people all info, vs spin and/or silence, people would understand snow delays or injuries. reddit.com/r/TTC/comments… Same with @VIA_Rail in December. Awful comms poured gasoline on a problem.

Need a real reckoning and reset of gov't comms, these agencies. Trust is in the dumpster and it's self-inflicted.

Lots of people having this conversation right now.

There’s a desperation in toronto right now. And there’s constricted places for people in distress to go for shelter / help. I watched a fellow obviously in some state of distress eat his food off the floor then leave it & his other stuff at Christie Station where he got off.

The regularity of this was not a thing before.

San Francisco has a Crosstown trail. 17 miles. Interesting. Could do something like this in Toronto, hooking up a lot of the disparate parks and passageways. crosstowntrail.org Image SF is small but also: big! When you walk it. This epic 17km walk on New Year’s Eve day was so great. strava.app.link/lJjiTRlVQwb Image

The Windsor train isn’t even on the @VIA_Rail arrival board. Information is poor. If I didn’t known what I was doing, kinda, I’d be very confused as to where to meet mom. I have complaints but the train made it (almost). 3.5 hours late but it plowed thru

Take the slow old roads, hiway 2, if you must. Wouldn’t touch the 401. Train delayed towards 3 hours but it's moving ... mom txts me stories about the 100 car pile up on the 401. I suggest she hail the the bar cart. Trains, they get through.

Lionhearted in the face of pandemic, inflation, & recession, undeterred by imminent bulldozer & real estate frenzy, the hardest working Christmas tree in Toronto is BACK & more resolute than ever, this year with a new plinth & rug. ✊🏼🎄12/10 #EveryCorporateChristmasTreeInToronto Image North York Centre tree. Excellent ball & light coverage. Symmetry is good. Star bursts add a celestial feel (added point). Santa chair keeps it real. Taper ratio ok. Mel Lastman would be proud of this tree in his inventional downtown. 11/10 🎄#EveryCorporateChristmasTreeInToronto Image

Does Navigator have an internal list of my jokes about them too? I am still covered in clown paint that didn’t come off from yesterday. I need to navigate myself clean of it. Image

People who work for Navigator or similar should not be media pundits, commenters, hosts, writers. Full stop. You never know who they are working for. These kinds of comms firms are antithetical to what journalism should be: telling the plain truth and increasing understanding.

ICYMI I went back 17 years go uTOpia for my @TorontoStar column this week. Parallels today to the deep funk Toronto was coming out of then. Did you know that Ontarians can vote in every municipality where they own property? So a landlord can vote more than once, but a permanent resident can’t vote at all. I'm getting the predictable "non citizens shouldn't be allowed to vote" - very time - my friends in London aren't UK citizens but they vote municipally. Also, the property ownership multiple voting kinda deflates the old "citizen" stuff. What is a citizen of a city?

Just a bananas show of extremely expensive force, for what? They have zero worry about doing this in front of everyone. It's a fuck you to the city. This is Tory's Toronto. His chief. His Police Board.
