We definitely do need a general strike, but what’s happening May 1st, is a rally (or series of rallies!), not a general strike. I’m worried about what it means to conflate these actions.
This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t participate. If you can, an all-out general rally is a great way to know you’re a part of something larger, that nothing about this situation is status-quo, and also a great way to dip your toe into some sort of “action”—even if it isn’t direct.

I’m done with rallies and marches. Here are some suggestions for shutting this shit down:
—boycott and make a scene at any corporation that supports the Ford government
—withhold taxes. Contact your employer and tell them you are responsible for your own taxes. Do NOT FILE
—participate in lock-outs. Keep MPPs out of their offices and from entering QP
—general strike! Not just May 1, but starting May 1 and continuing every day until we show the government that we can bring things to a grinding halt
—pressure AMAPCEO to strike/lockout

I’ve known people to vote PC (ONT), C (FED) in the past, and I’ve heard a number of reasons for it. Examples include, “fiscal responsibility,” “economy,” and even, “I met my MP/MPP and he/she is a really just the best candidate."
I’m sorry, but that’s bullshit. What these choices come down to is what it means to live in a society, what it means to participate actively in a social contract.
