So grid conditions are a little tighter now than they have been today -- about 4,250 megawatts online right now. But electricity retailers are asking customers to conserve power.

That's not necessarily because there's an issue within ERCOT 1/ Electricity retailers basically made their bets on how much electricity people would use today yesterday, but people have used WAY MORE than they and ERCOT thought they would. That means they have had to buy their power on the spot market, at a much higher price 2/

This is wild. Wholesale power prices have spiked in the Houston region, north of $317 per megawatt hour. But less than three hours away in Calhoun County (where there's a lot of wind power), prices are NEGATIVE $883 There's so much power being generated so close, just north of Corpus Christi, but there's not enough transmission capacity bring that power to where it's needed. Now that the school resource officer who allegedly failed to act during the Stoneman Douglas High massacre has been arrested, let's revisit how the aftermath of Parkland differed from the aftermath of the Santa Fe High shooting, which left 10 dead & 13 injured in Texas. A thread: In Parkland, the Broward Co Sheriff was suspended over his handling of the case; 2 campus monitors at the school were fired. 4 more school employees were reassigned; 2 deputies resigned after their actions were scrutinized; one was suspended; a 4th was put on restrictive duty.
