“Jews refusing to write xianity fully or calling him yoshke instead of his name just shows how much Jews secretly hates him/us.”

A short thread debunking these notions. For starters, Judaism demands for Jews to be careful with words. This is why, for example, you will see Orthodox Jews online and elsewhere write “G-d” instead of the full name, or “L-rd,” or even if transliterating, replace certain letters and write Elokim, Eloka, Kel, or Hashem.

Here’s the reality:

It’s not Jews who are against xianity, it’s secularists & atheists (some of whom happen to be Jewish)

In Judaism itself, we do not care about xianity, it doesn’t hold a special place in our theology for good or for bad. It’s simply a non-factor in what we do Don’t get me wrong: it is forbidden for a Jew to share those beliefs, but this is no different than it being forbidden for someone who claims to be of your religion to spurn belief in the trinity or the divinity of a human being.

You say it’s necessary, we say it’s forbidden.

Did you know that “ghetto” is not only element of Jewish history that was culturally appropriated by the rap community? Far from it!

Turns out, pouring a 40 in memory of your deceased chavruta (old timey homie) was a common practice in Talmudic times: Image Though poorly translated, zilzouf means (perfuming by) pouring wine. It was done according to some on the bier itself, and others in front of it, as a sign of respect for the deceased.

Keep in mind that in Talmudic times, “wine” was routinely 40% to 50% alcohol, too.

This is beautiful:

Even though she describes herself as secular, had nothing to do with Judaism all her life to the point where refers to the Jewish Bible as the OT/ doesn’t realize OT doesn’t equate Torah, the first thing she tells the world in her profile is that she’s a Jew. Not only does she announce her Jewishness for the world to see (despite little to no connection to Judaism/Jewishness according to her own words), but she also dedicated her life to pursuing justice and making the world a better place in the name of her Jewishness.

For the sake of disclosure, here are my politics:

G-d runs the world, and I want Mashiach now.

On election day, I first go to mikveh, put on my kapota, and wear my gartel to vote. That’s because the Rebbe told us it’s our duty to vote. Otherwise, I wouldn’t in the first place. I wouldn’t vote because while I can find points I agree with most political parties, I can find many more points I vehemently disagree with.

I believe in individuals and communities, not parties, tribes or factions.

And most importantly, that G-d chooses who rules over us.

I’m fuming to the point I’ve got a migraine.

One of my students was just assaulted on his way to yeshiva. A black man in his 40s smacked him across the face for no reason other than hate.

Thankfully, he got away before anything else happened.

What makes most angry about this? I told him we needed to file a police report; he mentioned that a couple of blocks later he saw an NYPD car but never even thought of stopping to tell them.

Why?

“What are they gonna do? Even if they catch him, it’s not like anything’s gonna happen to him, he won’t go to jail”

I don’t scoff at people’s experiences in general, but I have to say that if you sleep with four dogs in your bed and wake up one night with claw marks all over your side, your initial assumption should probably be that one of the dogs did it versus, you know, a demon. Then the next route would probably be to investigate if you have REM sleep disorder, or if the wife sleeping your bed does.

Either way, if you want to say something like that and be considered credible by people, having documented the marks to show the word would go a long way.

Another day, another debunking of fake Talmudic quotes and assertions about Torah.

A thread on Genders & Judaism 🧵 Disclaimers:

1) I have no interest getting into any political discussion, nor into modern issues related to gender, LGBTQ+ issues or anything of the sort. This is only about correcting the egregious lies posted by antisemites about the Torah, Talmud, and Judaism as a whole.

Scolding the youth, telling them “we tried to instill in you [things detached from Judaism], but we did not intend for you to [be detached from Judaism]” isn’t gonna be successful.

If you tell a kid kosher just means ethical eating, don’t be surprised when he becomes a vegan. You told them that what mattered most was social justice, humanism, activism, and the brotherhood of man. And social justice told them Jews are white privileged colonizers who oppress the indigenous Palestinians in a land that doesn’t belong to them.

And now you’re appalled?

On Shabbat I read a small piece of Torah that absolutely set me on fire. It is mind-blowing in its simplicity and elegance, and completely reframes your view of a Biblical narrative in a way you can’t comprehend how it’s not how you’ve always seen it.

A short thread: One of the most puzzling questions in all of Bereshit is simply:

What is Yitshak’s deal when it comes to Esav?

By all accounts, he seems to have a pretty rotten behavior, attempts to trick his father by pretending to be pious, etc.

Yet, Yitshak never relents. Why?

Jews have long been plagued by the idea that they are doing Judaism just right.

It’s creating a lot of unnecessary tensions, especially in the age of social media.

A short thread on this old phenomenon: Most members of our community are plagued with the same two beliefs. They are:

“Every Jew who is more strict than me is a crazy zealot!”

while simultaneously believing

“Every Jew who is more lenient than me is a heretic!”

Candace Owens has accused Chabad and the Rebbe of being radical.

For once, she’s right.

I’m so sick of the historically illiterate pontificating about things they know little about.

Congratulations, you read 3 wiki articles & a handful of memes.

Communism was very unpopular with Jews prior to the revolution, and the vast majority attracted to it were Mensheviks. Only 5 out of the 21 members of the Communist Central Committee were Jews.

You might say ‘Overrepresentation!’ You’d be right.

Lenin, an antisemite himself, said regretfully he had to employ as many Jews as he did because he didn’t have any options.

Why?

I have completely revamped how I'm gonna be teaching Gemara this year and I'm pretty excited about it.

A short rant only interesting to those in chinuch or with children in the system. So basically I came from teaching Grade 11/Shiur Beis and Gimmel in Mesivta (ages 16-17) on average to teaching Kita Ches (ages 13-14) and it's an entirely different ball game... but at the same time the problems I saw early when teaching are even more present at that age

Apparently, being conclusively disproven once wasn't enough.

Another thread debunking the antisemitic fabricated/manipulated Talmud quotes from @DanBilzerian and @Haqiqatjou: Already before we start, we begin with a major lie that is meant to bolster their position: the idea that Sefaria is the "authoritative" online source for Jewish Scriptures

Absolutely not. Even they would disagree. They are more akin to wikipedia, really

One of the most vile (and oft repeated) accusations against Jews and Judaism is that the Talmud (Ketubot 11b) permits relations with a girl as long as she is under the age of 3.

A thread debunking this absolutely horrific libel. Background:

The discussion in question happens in the tractate entitled "Ketubot."

A ketubah is a marriage document. Per the Torah, the marriage document of someone who has never had relations is worth financially more than the document of one who engaged in them in the past.

The most frustrating thing about Candace Owens’s hatred is not her boastful arrogance, but its origin in utter ignorance.

To claim Joseph Stalin was Jewish flies in the face of every single thing we know about a man who rivalled Hitler in his antisemitism.

A thread. There is a very strong case to be made that Stalin was not only directly responsible for the death of over 3 million Jews, but bears responsibility for the Holocaust in its entirety as well. On top of planning to exterminate all of the remnants of European Jewry in his control.

This is giving me a headache.

Not the antisemitism, but the sheer ignorance, misinformation and mispronunciation.

The only true thing she says is that she hasn’t done enough research on this or anything else.

A short thread debunking some of those mind-boggling ignorance: 1 ) Wikipedia is not a reliable source, especially about religious subjects.

The Magen David was used frequently by Jews in the Second Temple era, was mentioned in the Gemara, and there are tons of Jewish artifacts from 2000 years ago that bear the sign.

Not from the Muslims.

It’s hard to appreciate just how low-iq most terminally online antisemites are.

First, you have Lucas Gage who gets whipped into a frenzy by other white nationalists and groyper into getting banned by burning the [cheapest English book he could find about the] Talmud on camera. Now, not only he couldn’t figure out that emails from “shlomo.goldenberg@secrettalmudnetwork.com” telling him they were going to raise his interest rates until he went bankrupt then put Kabbalistic curses on him to ruin his life was him getting trolled by fellow wn travellers…

As our Sages say, this is what happens when you have mercy on the cruel: eventually, you are cruel to the merciful.

A short thread on the futility of half-measures and how it empowers the enemy. Israel goes out of its way, in a way that is borderline criminal towards its soldiers & citizens, to protect the enemies’ civilians.

As a result, far more soldiers die than they have to, far more rockets are shot into Israel than they have to, and Israel gets no credit for it.
