I always said I could never practice 🫀 in a state that didn’t allow abortion. The 1st person I saw die unexpectedly was a young woman w/ peripartum CM. She didn’t know. Some1 told her to follow up w/ Cardiology but didn’t explain why. She had a couple more pregnancies. Symptoms progressed w/ each one. By the time she got to us, it was too late. Her last words were “I can’t breathe.” Right before we intubated her, I told her it was that it was okay, we had her.
