Pakistan: Beggars can be choosers 🧵
Recently, I did a podcast in which I quoted from references that were well known on BRF. Pakistan spends 40% of its budget for its armed forces. It is not surprising that other development parameters keep sinking. Pak is an example of a 1/6 country in which the elite remain rich while the poor survive by some means. To be frank India was mostly like that till the 1990s, and real changes in development came post 2014. But I digress. Pakistani armed forces rapidly induct ultramodern arms because if the way the economy

During Operation Sindoor the Chinese were giving real time updates to Pakis on Indian weapons being readied.
This is a serious concern and I do not want to dilute its importance. However I do want to remove some misconceptions.
I will explain using an animation (next post) Image China may detect some Indian weapons readiness and some take-offs, but cannot detect and track all Indian aircraft taking off in real time.
Explanation:
In the animation:
Earth in center
Blue low earth orbit (LEO) satellite at 200 km
Yellow geostationary sat at 36,000 km

INDIA'S FAST BREEDER REACTOR PROGRAM
Introduction:
Indians have an extremely low self image. All educated Indians are able to point out filth, corruption, indiscipline among Indians. So much so that most people feel happy and triumphant to point these things out, 1/9 knowing that the world will agree. What this leads to is educated Indian intolerance to anything that is completely unique in India, especially technology. Once educated, the Indian will first learn foreign technology and then compare with India. And if the Indian tech 2/9

Radar beams travel at 300,000 km per sec
It takes 1/1000 second to go 300 km to light up a fighter plane at that distance
It take 1/1000 sec to come back
Therefore it takes 2/1000 sec for one radar pulse to go and return.
But one return is not enough to detect a fighter, Image let alone track it. At least 7 to 8 to and fro returns are needed to simply detect the fighter.
If one return takes 2/1000 second, then you have to wait that much time before sending another pulse to listen for an echo.
8 returns will take 16/1000 sec minimum. Because of this

When the Tejas program started India had
1. No refuellers or refuellable aircraft
2. No multimode radars
3. No BVRAAMs
The IAF in its 1985 ASR said "High tech only when it is a must" IAF opposed trying to develop difficult to reach tech goals. Did not ask for IFR. Image HAL and ADA approached France for Project Develpment. France made the document but pulled out of the project when Arunachalam wanted American FCS Image

🧵Here is what I would do if I were in charge of ISI/Chinese social media cell and wanted to scare Indians and upset Indian plans to go ahead with AMCA. Assume that my Social Media army are already on X with Hindu names and handles like "nationalist", "Paki killer" "Yudishthira" etc First I would make posts expressing my fear that Pakistan is getting the world's most advanced stealth aircraft and link videos and sites about that. The I would ask "What can we do? This is very worrying"

I think people on social media, dominated by a younger crowd who have been saved from war for many decades to the extent that even their parents have not seen major wars, think that information flow from the war front from Day 1 is critical.
The are really clueless. In war the losses start mounting from day 1. Men killed, infra destroyed, planes down, territory shelled and evacuated. After a few days this "daily news crowd" will be crying and howling for peace and court martial of forces.
In reality it is only after a few days of war that things get going and the victories and advances start. But losses will continue. Howling infowar infowar infowar narrative narrative narrative is just how Indians have forgotten war and think rapid info on Facebook, Insta and X is what war is all about Rapid information flow is not necessarily good in war. Even "conservative right wing Patriots" have drunk the kool aid of free information flow and press conferences every day so that they the taxpayers (" I fund you you miserable jokers. I need to know dammit!") Look where the Pakistani narrative went?

#narrative
The instant appearance of a well written article speaking of BVR engagement where Indian aircraft were shot down suggests that not only was it written earlier - but the PAF is working on a standard plan that was done in 2019 (post Balakot) and again May 2025 Recall what happened in Feb 2019. On night 1 PAF was asleep. On day 2 the PAF launched a mass of aircrfat that fired BVR AMRAAMs into India to try an get a Su-30. They lucked out because Ahbinandan crossed the LoC and got hit while he was hitting an F-16 and they got "proof"

I think Indians, whose views I see on X and in WhatsApp groups have not understood one basic premise. Let me explain. On the one hand we ask for honesty and truth. On the other hand we moan and cry about not winning a narrative war. No one wins narrative war by telling 100% truth and admitting losses. Narrative war is about how you defeated the enemy. No need for truth or honesty. Never ask for truth if you want a narrative war to be won. Pakistanis are good at this. When the foe is not up front and does not admit losses, but we admit losses, that is a narrative defeat. No one is going to praise us for honesty. Pakistan waits for us to admit losses that they allege we have had and the minute we admit up front they claim victory. That is what we call as narrative victory for Pakistan.

Not yet 3 weeks since a spectacular benchmark setting military success & already Indians are behaving like coolies, saying "narrative failure narrative failure narrative failure"
What narrative failure? For Indians, white man has to say "You aar gud boi. Pak bad boi" and if not - we are unhappy - like little boy crying "mummeee! teechar told to Raju he is good boy, not told me".
Let me make a few points on this #OperationSindoor was retribution for Pahalgam. The primary purpose was to hit terrorist targets and that was done with sophistication and elan. Let me remind you to wipe your tears and recall 2019. We hit terrorist camps while PAF slept. Next day they retaliated and we preferred to believe that they won something, forgetting the previous day. "We want proof of F-16" we asked - speaking just like Pakistanis, thinking we are "honest Hindus asking for truth"

Today, May 11th it is exactly 27 years since Vajpayeeji ordered Indias nuclear tests in Pokhran. More than 50% of today's Indians were either not born or too young to remember the discRussians that happened then. This thread is a reminder. The nuclear powers of the world created a caste system to stop nuclear tests EXACTLY timed to stop India. They called it the nuclear non proliferation treaty. To ensure that no country would test nukes they set up a global monitoring system of seismic stations for the purpose

I would like to call upon my younger friends on social media not to fall for Pakistan's usual trick of posing air combat and aircraft kills ALONE as the hallmark of victory in war. I will explain this with some history in this thread. Do read on.. Many of you would have seen yesterday a tall story from Pakistan of how 125 Indian and Paki aircraft did BVR combat without crossing LoC. This was just to set the stage for claiming future victory, no matter what happens. Let me start with 1965

In my archives I found an article by Air Marshal Brijesh Jayal from @ReviewVayu that explains the aerospace mess we have and will continue to have. No hope
In the following posts I will quote a few key paragraphs
SHACKLES OF THE MIND
VAYU & AEROSPACE DEFENCE REVIEW VI/2011 "Today, it is no exaggeration to say that the IAF and HAL are locked in an embrace from which neither can disengage without delivering a mortal blow to the other."

Pardon me for stating my view in a quote post. On social media I see a very large number of military aviation enthusiasts specifically talking about single or multiple Chinese (Or Chin-Pak) platforms as threats that need specific counters, just as you have asked. This is theoretically possible (IMO) only in an Air Force consisting of F-22s, F-35, F-15E, B-1s and B-2s in sufficient numbers. What is the alternative? On social media the usual answer I see is "We have lost. We might as well give up. Ha ha ha. " If that is the answer that one seeks then there it is - your question is answered.

After many years I found out what had been ailing our dear Kaveri engine. They never revealed the issue, but then again I don't blame them because snakes in engine industries abroad would raise prices of just the stuff we were failing in. A talk by a GTRE director and Aero IndiaImage revealed the truth. What the Kaveri was suffering from was "Fan flutter" in the front section that was leading to the "excessive noise" that was rumored to have been there. But worse than noise was that this could cause
1. Catastrophic engine failure
2. Inability to throttle up and down freely as required for a fighter engine

This is a joke. The joke is on us.
We spent decades buggering about and not taking engines seriously. Not having the cojones to test what we made. Searching for shiny latesht imports. Now when the west is struggling - the US gives excuses like supply chain issues. India looks completely stupid. What a shame.Image I have said for years that our government, Babus and senior forces officers are all deeply colonized. This means contempt for Indian innovation and admiration of imports. This leads to impatience and imagining that gold plated products appear just like that. So many of our imports have been bad. We rarely see complaints about that. But Indian stuff is bad. Add to that a piss poor PSU work culture in HAL. There is no denying it. I say it again. LUH is delayed. You can argue if you want. Kick me when it appears in Siachen. Forget IMRH

Reading 'Beautiful Tree' by Dharampal a few points come out. The British killed Gurukul education, making Brahmins jobless. Those Brahmins went into British run schools as per Macaulay. The interesting part starts here. The other jatis, weavers, potters, metalworkers etc .. who were ok with gurukuls did not join British style education because it added no value to their occupations and skills. So they remained illiterate as per Brit expectation. Brahmins got the clerical, judicial, accounts and other jobs. Another less well known issue is that all

Unless I say "Yes we are behind" I will be attacked (I don't care) I see widespread acknowledgement & preparation for drone warfare in the forces. Untold varieties/sizes are available & news reports speak of army and air force preparing. Numbers are classified but - let me ask .. What do you mean "drone technology?"
We seem to be buying high tech drones in respectable numbers from Israel and the US. As regards our own Tapas, there have been encouraging reports, but not there yet. I see the issue as follows. Drones and their propulsion + control systems
