A thread of 10 or so books I read/re-read this year:

1) Triumph Forsaken by Mark Moyar. A shockingly good work of "revisionism" surrounding the initial years of US involvement in Vietnam. Diem rehabilitation, basic introduction to Vietnamese history, and more 2) "The Importance of Nietzsche" by Erich Heller. A collection of 10 essays in "comparative literature" (to use the silly American phrase). Standouts: "Nietzsche and Goethe" and "Burckhardt and Nietzsche." Heller in general is highly recommended.
