…dude, the literal definition of socialism is that it’s the precursor state to capitalism and is defined by taking power away from the ruling class and putting the means of production and power back in the hands of workers.

Also—Nazis were socially and culturally right wing. They were also fiscally centre..

Is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) democratic just because it’s in their name? Obviously not.

Nazism was *fascist*. They wanted the people to be subservient to the state. Communists and socialist wanted the abolishment of nation states. Literally the whole point of communism is a classless, moneyless, and stateless society.

Nazis *persecuted* socialists and communists. Socialism is literally an egalitarian ideology. That’s the whole point of its existence. Nazism was made in response as a counter to socialism. They named themselves socialists because back then the term lacked the baggage it had today, and because the ruling party at the time *was* socialist. They did it to make themselves more palatable.

If there is no transition of power from the ruling class to the workers, including giving them the means of production, it is not socialism. Period.

Nazis are state capitalists. They had a mixed economy. It’s just because they were focused on war as a priority that they involved themselves so much in the economy. Everything they did was to enable their military conquest. Being severely controlled and leashed by the government does not make them socialist. It makes them authoritarian. Socialism is an economic ideology and authoritarianism is an ideology about government power and authority. They are separate domains.

Nazis also included *profit* as the main economic motor of the economy. Thats capitalism. Saying a government nationalized some industry is socialist isn’t correct—Norway isn’t socialist. Canada isn’t socialist. Turkey isn’t socialist. Saudi Arabi for sure isn’t socialist. Each of those countries are mixed economies with nationalized companies.

Central planning is an important part of socialism. But governments often greatly influence and affect their economies during wartime—or in times of rearmament. The US did this and they definitely aren’t socialist either.

There was no redistribution of wealth. Worker rights were suppressed—the literal antithesis of what socialism is.

Private businesses still existed and generated profit. That’s capitalism. Period.

The Nazis are, in general, right wing. Because when you look at all the different domains, they mainly average out to being on the right.
