My opinion is that ADHD fucking sucks, significantly impairs my daily life and intellectual activity, and does not confer any significant creative benefits. As a society we should certainly be accepting of atypical cognition but lionizing the experience doesn't speak for everyone I'm so fucking tired of not being able to use my brain most of the time. I am staring at a paper I'm extremely interested in, and I literally cannot read it. The words are not going from my eyes to my brain. I cannot perform abstract reasoning. I cannot even decide what to do

As someone who strongly prefers static types, I can't believe I am saying this but I don't love the trend of dunking on dynamically typed languages as "merely" unityped/badly statically typed. Dynamism has its own rich history, including contributions to static typing. Dynamic programs have driven interest and innovation in subtyping, refinement types, richer type predicates, and flow-sensitive static analysis. All of these directions improve the expressivity of sound static type systems in addition to any gradually-typed applications.

"Block vs. inline content" is a fundamental distinction baked into every document preparation system I've used (LaTeX, HTML, Microsoft Word, Notion, and more). We take it for granted as systems builders, but I think it's wildly unintuitive for casual users?! Microsoft Word was my first document editor. There is a menu for applying rich text styles: Title, Heading 1, Heading 2, and so on. "Listening and learning" is the new "thoughts and prayers". Enshrined as the summer's go-to corporate valediction; notably devoid of material commitment or sacrifice. I will elaborate below. 1) The (accurate) premise of these "listening tours" is that valuable insights are likely to come from people in vulnerable positions. This puts the onus on them to come forth and educate you, amid the hostile environment and fear of retaliation that your leadership has fostered.
