This is a time when a lot of VCs are doing fewer deals and really leaning into supporting their portfolio companies. I came up with some REAL LEGIT ways investors could be helpful to my biz and for many of these, I was actually able to get what I asked for. [Thread] 1. ✨Reduce your reporting requirements from me✨ I have to report on my metrics in a bunch of different formats for different investors every quarter. It’s time consuming to say the least. It would be super helpful if I had to do less of that.

0/ It’s that time of the week... here’s your childcare + covid update! 1/ In vax news, more breastfeeding info. Good: breastfeeding post-vaccine passes along covid antibodies. Not as good: you have to keep it up for your baby to get the protection. Once you stop breastfeeding, the protection is gone. nytimes.com/2021/04/08/hea…

0/ I’m counting down the weeks until we no longer need updates on childcare + covid news because the pandemic is over. But until then, here’s the latest! 1/ We’re starting to near the point in the US (soon!) when it will be less about “how can I get a vaccine” and more about “how do we convince everyone to get vaccinated” fastcompany.com/90614105/why-m…

I haven’t seen my dad in 18 months which is the longest ever in my 36 years. My dad has never met his grandson (who turns 1 in a couple days). Thank god for the internet because my parents have felt close when they were far. I can’t wait for them to hug my kids tomorrow 🙏 My daughters made a sign 😭 Image

0/ Welcome to your weekly covid + child care update. It’s a week filled with hope and optimism with Biden taking office! Finally, we have an adult in charge and some actual plans. I feel like we have all collectively breathed a sigh of relief. 1/ But before you start celebrating too much, I’m going to give you a bit of a reality check. We REALLY have our work cut out for us. The work starts now.

0/ Things are BAD right now on the covid front. Fortunately, many daycares, preschools and schools are on, or about to enter, their preplanned winter break. So what does it all mean? Here's a quick covid + childcare update. 1/ I think the most interesting question is what will happen post-break. We aren't in a good place right now. Deaths are at an all-time high and, in many areas, ICUs are close to capacity nytimes.com/interactive/20…

0/ Ok it’s been a BIG week for news in the land of child care + covid. Let’s do this @Bob_Wachter style with the top updates 1/ Can kids spread covid? nytimes.com/2020/07/20/par… This has been a question since DAY 1 and there is still so much we don’t know. But here’s what we do know:

We spent all of our family dinner discussing this because WE HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS businessinsider.com/a-day-in-the-l… 1. She leaves to play tennis at 7:30 then leaves for work at 8:30... so including a shower and getting dressed and commuting to the court, she’s playing like at most 20 minutes of tennis. Who plays 20 minutes of tennis?!

1) I already went through pregnancy/new momhood once as an employee and it kind of sucked. Now seeing it again as an employER is enlightening because it's actually pretty hard for companies to do the right thing. 2) I wrote up a blog post about how to build a lactation room on a budget because I found absolutely no resources out there or solutions that our company could afford. We had to get creative and it took time to figure it all out. blog.winnie.com/building-a-lac…
