1/ In the first half of 2025, I wondered here on X whether BA.3.2 would return at all. A few weeks ago, I considered that it might present a gradual shift toward endemicity rather than achieving global dominance.
2/ Today, BA.3.2 is close to being the dominant variant in Germany 🇩🇪: Roughly 40 of the 120 sequences from Germany submitted to GISAID today are BA.3.2.

1️⃣ @behrens_georg , Markus Hoffmann & team examined antibody responses induced by the novel LP.8.1-adapted mRNA vaccine.
2️⃣ Major finding:
The vaccine markedly boosts neutralizing antibody responses against the currently dominant variants NB.1.8.1 and XFG.
➡️ Enhanced protection against severe COVID-19 can be expected.
