makes a lot more sense after learning in the VRBPAC materials posted today that Moderna submitted data on children <6 on *April 18th* — close to 2 months ago. This means regulatory delays were even longer than we realized. 1/🧵 In the executive summary, we learn that Moderna submitted data at different times for different age groups. Here are the dates:

Excellent piece from @CarolineYLChen out today in
@propublica on rising risks for children under 5. A parent asks, "[Can] advisory boards look me in the eye and say, ‘Your son is better off getting COVID without the vaccine than with some protection?’” 🧵propublica.org/article/whats-… @CarolineYLChen @propublica Experts @GovindPersad, @BurgartBioethix & @emily_a_largent asked a similar q: "Regulators should have focused on one question: Is a young child safer being vaccinated against the coronavirus now than waiting unprotected for two months?" washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/…

The science and the ethics align in support of #offlabelU5. Read on… 🧵1/n First, let’s talk about how we got here. What happened with Pfizer’s pediatric trial? @dr_kkjetelina did an excellent explainer on this topic. Bottom line: 3 mcg worked in kids 6m – 2 years, but the dose was too low for 2-5s. yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com/p/why-did-the-…
