Alarmingly, this is not an isolated case in the Philippines.

Data shows that majority of pregancies among adolescents (19 years old and below) are fathered by older men. These pregnancies, therefore, reflect sexual abuse driven by the power inequality within this relationship. Another disturbing statistic is the increase in live births among girls aged 10-14. For 2020, the Philippine Population and Development (POPCOM) recorded that girls under age 15 accounted for 2,411 live births in the country, the number having risen three times since 2000.
