I know the expectations of the fanbase and everybody else is to add this free agent or sign this big guy, whatever, but I do believe, from my perspective, we need our guys to be better – Whitlock, Houck, Crawford, Bello, We need Trevor Story to get back to the offensive force that he was in Colorado. We need Raffy Devers to be better at third base. Triston Casas, the way he finished the season last year, just take off from there and be a dominant first baseman. I do believe we’re gonna make some moves, we’re ... On the biggest rotation needs: “The most important thing is for Chris Sale to be healthy, to Brayan Bello to take the next step, to Garrett Whitlock and Tanner Houck, bounce back from a tough year. You’ve gotta remember, three of those guys last year in the offseason, they were coming back from surgery, their offseason was cut short, and I don’t think they hit their stride during the season. From our end, we need our guys to be better, to improve and hopefully we can accomplish that.”

On starting pitching: “I’ve been pretty outspoken, pretty vocal about the need for us to improve starting pitching. I think that can come through multiple channels. One thing we need to do is understand how our internal guys can take a step forward. We also need to pursue the trade markets and free agency, so we’re actively engaged in all three of those and we need to figure out a way to have more consistent starting pitching.” On ownership financial support: “I think that one thing that’s true is historically ownership has been incredibly competitive and incredibly supportive of providing the resources necessary to field as competitive a team as possible. That’s not any different right now and our job is to figure out the way to make the best baseball decisions that we can to field a competitive team in ‘24 and beyond. I think we can point to a really exciting emerging group of young position players. We’ve got to figure out a way to complement them on the mound.”
