When cats purr they are generating low frequency mechanical vibrations (~25 Hz - 120 Hz) that resonate through their entire body. This acts like a massage, stimulating the mobilization of fluids and potentially healing mechanisms like stem cell differentiation/proliferation. Image Since these originate from the larynx, the thyroid ends up being one of the main beneficiaries of the purring due to its proximity. Other organs like the thymus and brain could benefit from being nearby as well.

I'd highly recommend anyone who's dealt with chronic jaw/tongue problems or snoring to look into the MyoNozzle. This straw attachment can train the swallowing mechanics that are necessary for the integrity of the upper airway and subsequently the entire face, jaw, and neck. Image

It does this by mimicking a giant nipple, seriously. Here you can incorporate the lips, tongue, soft palate, and throat in an intuitive movement that you should have done as an infant. This can simplify the mystery of tongue posture for some people.

The deep neck flexors lie at the core of the neck, protecting vital structures and keeping the head held upright. They not only shape the appearance of the neck but —when weak— can produce symptoms of dysautonomia, TMD, headaches, shoulder pain, and more. Image The deep neck flexors (DNFs) refer to the longus capitis and longus colli, both positioned on the anterior portion of the spine stretching all the way from the occiput to the third thoracic vertebra. The rectus capitis anterior and lateralis are sometimes included in this group.Image

You don't realize how important your hip flexors are until you start training them. Your legs will feel substantially lighter as you pick them up to walk. It's easy to imagine how this translates to athleticism and injury prevention, among other things like digestion. There are plenty of ways you can add resistance, from ankle weights to tying dumbbells to your feet. However I prefer to use something like this to make it easier. Image

Bought my parents a Chromatorch recently. After a single session (~5 minutes) of shining it on the thyroid they noticed:

-Drastically reduced swelling in the neck (mom)
-A sense of invigoration similar to a cup of coffee (dad)

Since then they've been hooked and use it daily. Image
Image
Both of these experiences suggest improvements to the function of the thyroid. This is big because they didn't respond consistently to thyroid hormone supplementation in the past. Now all they need to do is shine a light on their neck.

If you don’t have the luxury of bathing in the tropical sun all day you’d probably benefit from supplemental light therapies. Which one(s) you should use depends on where you live, your circumstances, and your needs. Most people would benefit from several different types. ↓ Image Here is a breakdown of just some of the things that light does for you and why it is an absolute requirement for your life:

The Ammortal Chamber incorporates the following:

-Pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs)
-Red & NIR light
-Vibroacoustic massage
-Molecular Hydrogen

These are some of the absolute basic ingredients for living organisms. Image

If your neck is compromised your brain will quite literally not be able to drain waste properly, backing up like a toilet. Instead of searching for yet another supplement (outside of the basics), look at the potentially limiting physical structures like the neck. Image The flow of blood, lymph, and cerebrospinal fluid can all be limited by the shape of the neck and the behavior of its muscles. When these limitations become habit, the health and function of the brain suffer greatly. Image

Often the target of cosmetic procedures, the lips are an important indicator of health and vitality. This is largely due to the orbicularis oris muscle facilitating nasal breathing, serving as a central hub for facial muscles, and acting as the gateway to the gut.Image The orbicularis oris (OOr) attaches to both the maxilla and mandible, encompassing the mouth. It contains several layers of semicircular fibers in both the top and lower halves. These fibers are interwoven with other nearby muscles such as the buccinator.Image

Topical thyroid hormones are the underutilized secret to skin care, hair growth, wound healing, steroid production, and more. They regulate the energy supply and the eventual genetic expression of the skin and hair --limiting their appearance and function.

Lather some on today. Image It takes energy to maintain supple skin, healthy hair, and produce youthful hormones. Thyroid hormones are the gatekeeper to mitochondrial metabolism. Thyroid hormones also manage the genes within these tissues, governing the growth of hair and skin alike. Image

Dopamine is what allows you to ascend from your ape form while simultaneously infusing your life with effortless wonder and magic. Existence itself becomes beautiful and every moment in time feels like a gift. Here are some of my favorite ways to increase dopamine… Image Sunlight

Bright midday sun is irreplaceable for dopamine as UV light is involved in a number of dopaminergic adaptations. The sun is king but supplemental UV light during winter months can help provide a bit of a boost. Image

Did your hair have its coffee this morning? Why not?

Put some instant coffee in a cup (with sugar), fill it up in the shower, and pour it over your head.

Easy way to get your hair some caffeine, vitamins, minerals, glucose, and antioxidative polyphenols. Image Some of the benefits of the different constituents:

-Caffeine: Metabolic stimulant, mild antioxidant
-B vitamins + minerals: Assist in numerous metabolic processes
-Sugar: Primary fuel source for hair follicles
-Polyphenols: Antioxidants for sensitive follicles Image

The vagus nerve allows for you to breathe, swallow, digest, and coordinates the happenings within your gut with the rest of your body. It goes beyond "anxiety" or "wellness", it is the central axis between the brain in your gut and the one in your head. Image open.substack.com/pub/vitaeaethe…

Weak and underactive facial muscles can contribute to an asymmetric or melting appearance of the face. Their role in expressing emotions implicates them in the state of your nervous system and metabolism. Occasional facial exercise can change how the face looks and how you feel. Image All of these muscles are connected, fascially. The tone or actions of one muscle, especially chronically, can shift how the soft tissues of the face, including the skin, wrap and move over bone. This can change one’s appearance but is not permanent, capable of change. Image

What did I say about third worlders stealing content? Literally just copy and pasted my own tweet, either forgot or was too dumb to swap out my title for his.

Why do you make this lie? @questmoosa Image

The trapezius is one of the most influential, yet poorly understood muscles in the body. It connects the skull to the spine, arms, and hips while helping with respiration and movement of the cranial bones. Men and women alike would benefit from caring for it. Image The human trapezius originated from the cucullaris muscle in fish, which elevates the gills, flushing water over them. This muscle eventually split in two: the sternocleidomastoid and the trapezius.

Single leg supine (lying) hip flexion is one of the best movements for the psoas muscles. The direction of resistance more closely resembles the natural action of the psoas: swinging the leg forward during gait. Image The psoas muscles primary responsibility is to help maintain lordoctic posture of the lumbar spine while flexing the hip to walk or run upright. This is why humans possess relatively large psoas muscles compared to apes.

Hair follicles are so sensitive to oxidative stress that they run almost exclusively on (aerobic) glycolysis as opposed to mitochondrial respiration, despite the relative inefficiency in generating ATP. Hair then requires a steady supply of glucose in order to grow. Image
Image
Mitochondrial metabolism, though far more efficient at generating ATP per glucose, also generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) as a byproduct. The rapidly-growing hair follicles cannot endure much oxidative stress, so aerobic glycolysis is favored instead. Image

The suboccipitals are deceptively small and weak but end up having a greater impact on your life than most other muscles. They can alter the shape of your face, your body, the state of the nervous system/brain and more.

Suboccipital megathread... Image These muscles first developed in land-dwelling vertebrates as heads separated from the rest of the torso forming dedicated necks. Supporting the weight of the skull while synchronizing its movement with the rest of the body was essential. This job fell to the suboccipitals. Image

The obliquus capitis inferior contains the highest muscle spindle density in the body. It acts like a sensory organ, constantly coordinating rotation of the skull with both the eyes and inner ear.

This muscle needs integrated movement and training, not constant release.Image
